CANCELED:Unlocking the Secret to Synergy: Team Survival Simulation

Tue, Sep. 18th - 3:00 pm

This team-building exercise provides a unique opportunity to quickly and objectively measure whether your employees are set up to achieve synergy and is designed for team building, developing more constructive group processes, and demonstrating the impact of communication and collaboration on solution effectiveness.

Imagine you embark on a journey and suddenly your plane crash lands in the frigid, isolated area of northern Canada. Participants are given 15 items to rank relative to their importance of survival. Attendees will complete simulation work alone and then join forces with others in attendance. Based on team decisions, groups will be ranked on their level of team synergy that was achieved. Set in an unfamiliar location, the Subarctic Survival Situation takes participants outside of their organizational roles and areas of expertise to a situation where only their synergistic problem-solving skills will help them to survive.

Michael Culbertson with BMWC Constructors will facilitate the two-hour simulation hosted by the Future Leaders Committee. Developed by Dr. J. Clayton Lafferty, the Subarctic Survival Situation is one Human Synergistics most popular group problem-solving survival simulations. The simulation is a team development simulation providing individuals with basic soft skills on how to build and lead a team to form the ultimate goal – synergy. During the group activity, individuals from the same companies will work in the same group. Though not required, we encourage companies to send 2 or more individuals.
