Completion of the project is expected in 2020 and will include a renovation of four floors of Riley Hospital that will house a labor and delivery unit, a 45-bed Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit and a postpartum unit.
The $55 million IU Health North Cancer Center is an 88,000-square foot building that will be constructed just south of the hospital building, in an area now used for parking and green space and will be connected to the hospital by a covered walkway. The center will offer a wide range of cancer care, including radiation oncology areas and infusion rooms for chemotherapy patients and will also offer support programs, such as art, music, and yoga. A 500-space parking area will be located north of the existing hospital will also be included in the overall construction. Remaining bid packages are being released July through October 2018. The project will include a structural steel frame with a mixture of brick, stone, glass, and metal panels for the building envelop. Site mobilization will begin in July with scheduled completion in late fall 2019.
